After receiving both her B.E. and M.S. degrees from Roorkee University, India, Professor Bhatia worked as a lecturer in the Earthquake Department there for two years. She then went on to earn her Ph.D. degree from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Dr. Bhatia joined the faculty at Syracuse University in 1980.
Dr. Bhatia is a member of many societies, is on the editorial board for Geotechnical Testing, is vice president of the North American Geosynthetic Society, and is a co-editor for Geotechnical News.
