Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Syracuse University is one of four departments within the College of Engineering and Computer Science. We offer bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. We also offer a professionally oriented, interdisciplinary M.S. degree in Engineering Management. The MAE faculty members who support these programs are actively engaged in graduate and undergraduate education and research. Many enjoy national and international reputations for scholarship and for teaching excellence. I encourage you to visit our faculty directory as well as individual faculty web pages to learn more about the exciting research activities currently carried out in our department. OUR STUDENTS AT WORK

A team of seniors presents a design project. The senior design project
provides students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge, skills and
ability to work in teams.

The Industrial Assessment Center provides opportunities for students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems. Here students perform energy assessment at a company.
EXAMPLES OF CURRENT RESEARCH
Our researchers at the Center for Environmental Quality Systems use Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations to design and optimize personal ventilation systems. More on the highlighted work

There is active research in MAE Department on composite materials. Among questions addressed is the failure analysis of laminated composite materials. Highlighted is a new delamination test method developed in the Composite Materials Lab. More on the highlighted work.
